CELEBRATING DESIGN EXCELLENCE: NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN FOR THE 2025 CITY OF ADELAIDE PRIZE

Architects, designers, and creators* are invited to showcase their contributions to Adelaide’s urban landscape by entering the 2025 City of Adelaide Prize for Design Excellence.

This prestigious award, established in 1997, celebrates projects that demonstrate bold innovation, enhance public spaces, and contribute to the vibrancy and liveability of Adelaide and North Adelaide. Entry is free, and projects of all scales – from public art installations to transformative buildings – are eligible, provided they’ve been completed within the past two years.

The City of Adelaide Prize is a proud collaboration between the City of Adelaide and the South Australian Institute of Architects. The initiative highlights design excellence that enhances Adelaide’s reputation as a dynamic and aspirational city.

Winners of both the City of Adelaide Prize for Design Excellence and the People’s Choice Award will be announced at the SA Architecture Awards Party on 28 June 2025. The People’s Choice Award invites the public to vote for their favourite shortlisted project, emphasising community engagement in the design process.

*Open to all design disciplines. Institute membership not required.

 

Entry Eligibility and Criteria
Projects must exemplify innovation and excellence in design while achieving one or more objectives, such as:

  • Creating engaging and inclusive spaces that promote wellbeing and social connection.
  • Celebrating Kaurna culture and multicultural communities.
  • Enhancing green spaces and biodiversity in the Park Lands.
  • Repurposing and adapting spaces to meet evolving community needs.

Eligible entries include buildings, landscape works, public spaces, and other initiatives that enrich public experience.
