KEY opportunities

Refuel in the Regions

The Australian Institute of Architects experienced education team offers our Refuel Provider Network assistance with developing educational content that suits an architectural audience and meets formal continuing professional development (CPD) requirements.

Members of the Refuel CPD Network deliver CPD content to the profession.

In Queensland, we support the Refuel Provider Network’s CPD delivery to the Queensland regions by organising a time and place for the Refuel CPD delivery. The Refuel Provider then delivers the CPD either in-person or through webinar. The curation of the Refuel Providers into this Queensland program has been done in collaboration with the regional chairs for our Queensland regions and is tailored to the desires of each regional area, to best cater to the local CPD needs of our members.

EMERGING ARCHITECT AND GRADUATE NETWORK (EMAGN) EVENTS AND MENTORING

State and local events and programs tailored to emerging practitioners in Queensland. The membership demographic of EmAGN has been developed to advance learning opportunities of emerging architectural professionals, support their professional development and engage with local communities.

STUDENT ORGANISED NETWORK FOR ARCHITECTURE (SONA) EVENTS

The Student Organised Network for Architecture (SONA) is the official student body of the Australian Institute of Architects. SONA Queensland represents architecture students from across Queensland Universities, organising state and local events that provide opportunities for students to collaborate with each other as well as architects and associated professionals.

QUEENSLAND STATE AND REGIONAL ARCHITECTURE AWARDS

The Institute is dedicated to the promotion of Australian architects and architecture in both national and global arenas. Since 1981, we have upheld excellence in the profession by recognising best practice in the field through our National Architecture Awards program and inspiring others to continue striving to positively shape communities through architecture.

The vastness of Queensland is highlighted through our Queensland Regional Architecture Awards program. This includes the 7 regions of Far North Queensland, North Queensland, Central Queensland, Darling Downs & West Moreton, Sunshine Coast, Greater Brisbane and Gold Coast & Northern Rivers.

Sponsorship opportunities are available at a state or regional capacity.

Awards sponsorship includes media coverage in local and national mainstream media and industry publications.

CONTINUED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD) PROGRAM

State and local events and programs that practitioners in Queensland are required to undertake to meet hours undertaken learning yearly. This is set by the Code of Professional Conduct, to provide professional services conscientiously and competently. This is offered in Queensland in-person in regions across Queensland and via Webinars.

ASK AN ARCHITECT PROGRAM

Championing the Queensland Chapter’s outreach to the general public the Ask an Architect is a key initiative to engage, inspire and inform the public about the benefits of good and sustainable design.

The Queensland Ask an Architect program is run through engagement activities such as participation at the Brisbane Home Show, the Asia Pacific Architecture Festival, and Open House initiatives where Ask an Architect sessions are embedded into the host-program to inform the public on how architects can facilitate more sustainable and resilient design of homes through easily applicable design choices.
