2025 renewal notices will be issued on 5 December 2024 with fees due for payment no later than 14 January 2025.
If you hold an accredited qualification in architecture (Master of Architecture or equivalent) that was attained more than 5 years ago (2019 or earlier), your membership category will be automatically transferred to the Associate category, in line with your career progression.
To re-join, please complete the application form. It is important that you sign In at the top of the application form so that previous membership records are retained. If you are having difficulty logging in please contact the membership team.
Experienced graduates of architecture, non-practicing architects working in non-traditional roles and academics with accredited qualifications, who meet the below criteria are eligible for Associate membership.
The Institute offers a fee reduction based on the following circumstances:
Parental Leave
The Institute provides special dispensation to those who work 20 hours or less per week to care for children under 5 years of age.
Post Graduate Leave
Current members who have reduced or left work due to undertaking post-graduate studies to further their career in the built environment are eligible for the Post Graduate Leave discounted fee option.
Working reduced hours
Concessional fees are available to members working the equivalent of 2 days or less per week.
Special circumstances
Facing special circumstances like prolonged unemployment, ill health, or financial hardship
Submit your application form followed by the concession form before 24 November to be considered prior to 2025 membership renewal.
Professional architecture courses in Australia are subject to accreditation administered by the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia through the AACA Architecture Program Accreditation Procedure in Australia and New Zealand. Please click the link to check if your course is accredited.
Individual members can pay either by one annual payment or in four quarterly instalments.

If you already have a registered card linked to your membership payments, simply update your card details in the My Membership section of your profile via the member portal.
To cancel your membership prior to the next renewal, please complete the resignation form before 24 November or email membership@architecture.com.au to avoid receiving a renewal notice. Members who don’t cancel by 31 December in the current membership year will be deemed to be renewing members for the new membership year.
