The First Nations Resource Hub

The FNRH is a dedicated platform designed to support built environment professionals in enhancing their understanding and practice of culturally respectful and appropriate design for First Nations Peoples.

WHY BUILD A HUB?

Our goal is to empower you to create spaces and buildings that respect and celebrate the cultural significance of First Nations Peoples.

Culturally respectful design is not just about aesthetics; it’s about acknowledging and honouring the histories, traditions, and identities of First Nations Peoples. By incorporating these principles into your work, you contribute to the broader movement of reconciliation and respect.

ABOUT THE HUB

The First Nations Resource Hub connects you with a wealth of information, providing valuable resources to enrich your knowledge and skills while designing spaces that resonate with First Nations people.

It includes but is not limited to:

Educational Materials:
Dive into the rich cultural heritage and contemporary issues faced by First Nations communities. These materials will help you develop a deeper appreciation and understanding of their unique perspectives and experiences.

Architectural Guidelines:
Access best practices for designing spaces that honour and reflect First Nations cultures. These guidelines offer practical advice and strategies to ensure your designs are culturally sensitive and respectful.

Cultural Protocols:
Learn the important protocols to follow when engaging with First Nations communities. Understanding and adhering to these protocols is crucial for building trust and fostering meaningful relationships.

A NOTE ON RESPONSIBILITY

The Institute and the First Nations Advisory Committee have curated these resources for informational purposes only. The Institute and the FNAC did not create these resources. These resources are to support and guide you in the design process; you must discern the suitability and accuracy of the resources for their specific needs and contexts.

We invite you to explore the First Nations Resources Hub and utilise these resources to enhance your practice. Together, we can progress the built environment to truly respect and celebrate the cultural heritage of First Nations Peoples.
