interior Architecture
What was once a large, plain, office space with little outlook and poor acoustics, has been transformed into an inviting workspace. The design both capitalises on the existing light provided by the adjacent laneway, while also bringing the outdoors in through a combination of timber and plant screens. The timber screens are constructed from short timber lengths finger-jointed together to minimise waste. The en mass indoor plants are housed in custom-built vertical walls which serve a dual purpose of improving air quality, while providing an appealing outlook. All of which works together to separate areas without preventing the movement of airflow and natural light.
The new fit-out provides an increased level of amenity to its users through a series of dedicated workspaces, with various breakout areas and meeting rooms, dedicated storage areas – both individual and shared – along with an upgraded kitchen area.
Client perspective:
How does the design benefit the way you live/work/play/operate/educate/other?
“The design by biotope has transformed our once bland dysfunctional office space into a modern, functional, collaborative open-plan environment. It has not only enabled us to increase our capacity within the space but has provided staff with a range of breakout spaces and meeting areas that are inviting for our staff and guests. The architect’s vision for bringing life into the space through the use of colour, textures and materials has been a welcome addition.”
