Traditional Land Owners: Dja Dja Warring Peoples of the Kulin Nation

The revitalisation of the City Campus of Bendigo TAFE has created a stimulating educational environment where a diverse range of students are empowered as agents in their education, training, and work futures by expanding their choices about how, where, and when they learn.

Two heritage buildings are retained and reimagined, new insertions are made to a 1990s building, and two new three-level buildings complete the campus streetscapes and put TAFE’s hallmark hands-on learning on display from the street and within the porous, light-filled atria. A delicate landscape strategy knits the buildings together as a campus for investigation and delight.  Woven into the historic fabric of Bendigo, the new City Campus celebrates TAFE’s industrial heritage and champions its ongoing contribution to regional prosperity.

It communicates to prospective students, industry partners and the broader community that Bendigo TAFE is an industry-focused, future-focused, approachable and inspiring place to learn.

Client perspective:
How does the design benefit the way you live/work/play/operate/educate/other?

The Bendigo TAFE City Campus has been transformed in to an approachable, contemporary and most importantly an engaging and welcoming space.

First Peoples are warmly celebrated through special co-created places, and more overtly, through Aboriginal artwork that is embedded in to the fabric of each building.

Woven into the rich history of Bendigo, the new and restored buildings celebrate the TAFE’s industrial heritage and champion an ongoing contribution to regional prosperity.

Bendigo TAFE is an inspiring place to learn, providing students and industry with retraining, reskilling, and upskilling towards pathways that drive employment, support local business and develop the region.
