1987 – 2021
It is with deep sadness that we notify members that Rob Maver passed away suddenly on Saturday.
Rob was a colleague and dear friend of many in the Tasmanian architecture community. After graduating with a Master of Architecture from the University of Tasmania in 2014, he worked with a number of Hobart architecture practices, including Matt Williams Architects, Maguire + Devine Architects and LXN Architecture. Rob also spent time honing his technical skills at Imatech Joinery Services, and most recently was working as the Design Manager & Estimator at Access Solutions, working with architects across the state.
Rob was involved with the Institute, and in particular, with the EmAGN demographic, assisting with events, and volunteered for Open House Hobart & Launceston over many years. Rob was also a keen photographer and with his collection of cameras assisted Nina Hamilton at the 2019 Tasmanian Architecture Awards, along with photographing many an architectural gem. His kind, friendly and positive attitude will be missed by all.
The Tasmanian Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects sends its condolences to Rob’s wife, Pip – who was a former Institute staff member, and a colleague and friend to many in the architecture community – Rob’s family, friends and colleagues.
A service will be held this Friday 19 March at Turnbull’s Funeral Home in North Hobart at 3 pm, with numbers restricted to 250. The link to the live stream can be found here, which will begin at 2.55 pm. Alternatively, call Turnbull Funerals directly for the link.
The family will then wander down to Soundy Park, on the corner of Argyle and Burnett Street, to celebrate Rob as he would have liked.
In lieu of flowers the family have asked for donations to Brightside Sanctuary.
