David Jackson (1931–2021), AO, FRAIA, FRIBA, passed away in January.
A former NSW Chapter President from 1978-1980 and National President from 1985-1986, David was an active member and distinguished architect.
Educated at the Architectural Association in London, and postgraduate study at the Yale School of Architecture, David Jackson worked in the USA and Jamaica before arriving in Australia. He was a founding partner of Jackson Teece Chesterman Willis – now Jackson Teece and in its 50th Year – and was the managing partner from 1971–1998. Before this, he was a design partner at McConnel Smith and Johnson from 1960–1971.
He became an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for Services to Architecture in Australia and Oceania in 1991 and was President of the Commonwealth Association of Architects from 1991-1994. David was an Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and Honorary Fellow of the Indian Institute of Architects.
