Coming back from the holiday period, we are proud to announce the appointment of the Institute’s Queensland Chapter President, Amy Degenhart, on the Queensland Housing Supply Expert Panel.
Amy says “It will be my honour to contribute to the Housing Supply Expert Panel in Queensland, and I look forward to working alongside a group of industry experts, professionals, academics, and engaged political leaders who have the determination to address affordable housing in meaningful way.”
Amy has continued to highlight the expertise of architects, as custodians of the built environment, being able to offer solutions to the issues of Queensland housing including high-quality, affordable housing.
Amy states “It’s no coincidence that “housing diversity” is the very first item on the list when the panel was announced, as diversity is not only a goal, but a strategy too.” This was called for by Amy on behalf of the Institute at October’s Housing Summit and is of key note in the Institute’s Housing Affordability Policy.
“From the perspective of an architect and urban designer, diversity is aligned with both lifestyle and design, and design innovation and collaboration – combined with an appetite for experimentation and quality research– will be essential to our collective success.”
Noting her asperations with this appointment, Amy says “My hope is that we can go beyond addressing the current housing crisis, and forge the opportunity for a well-designed, aspirational, sustainable, and resilient housing future for all Queenslanders.”
Thank you to all representing the industry, Amy’s appointment acknowledging the impact Architect’s can provide and assist with in addressing Housing Supply measures.
