The Australian Institute of Architects SA Chapter is seeking committee members to join a newly formed committee for a two-year term. The Gender, Equity, Diversity & Impact (GEDI) Committee will be co-chaired by Brychan Asaris – Senior Architect at Russell & Yelland, and Jasmine Placentino – Director of PARABOLICA.
We are looking for members who are passionate about Gender, Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity and want to make real impact to our industry.
We welcome diverse representation on the committee and invite expressions of interest from all Institute members, including A+ Practice members, EmAGN and SONA.
In joining the AIA SA Chapter GEDI Committee you will actively participate in delivering current and emerging initiatives to assist the Chapter Council, other Institute committees and taskforces to meet objectives which support members through the lens of Gender, Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity.
As this will be a newly formed committee it gives you the opportunity to help build things from the ground up.
EOI PROCESS – How to Apply
Submission Requirements:
- 1 page EOI cover letter that should address the following:
- Why you are interested in joining the committee and what does Gender, Equity, Diversity & Impact mean to you?
- What qualities make you suitable to join this committee? What is something unique you can bring?
- Are there specific areas of advocacy you would like to focus on as part of the committee?
- What prior involvement have you had with the AIA or similar organisations?
- CV (maximum 3 pages) which demonstrates your relevant knowledge, training and experience and how you may add value to the Committee’s outcomes.
Role & Responsibilities:
- The Committee will commence in May 2025 with an in-person meet and greet, followed by a strategy session.
- The Committee will meet once a month online. Communications will be predominantly through email and Microsoft Teams.
- Committee members are required to attend a minimum of 75% of meetings throughout the year.

- Committee members are expected to be active participants, conduct themselves and participate in the SA AIA GEDI activities in an accountable and professional manner, as per the Institute’s Code of Conduct.
