The Sir Roy Grounds Award for Enduring Architecture was proudly awarded to the Torrens Neighbourhood Centre by architect Dirk Bolt last Wednesday at the Enduring Architecture Awards ceremony. Minister Chris Steel was on hand to unveil the plaque, celebrating this iconic building’s lasting impact. The event, hosted by the Institute of Architects ACT Chapter, also featured the Enduring Architecture Jury—Can Ercan, Virginia Rigney, and Sarah Webeck—as well as Australian Institute of Architects CEO Cameron Bruhn and ACT Chapter President Shoba Cole. You can see in this post the ‘then and now’ photos, highlighting the remarkable transformation and lasting significance of the building within the community.
Special recognition was given to Tony and Arti, owners of the Torrens Newsagency, who were presented with a certificate for their ongoing support of the Torrens Neighbourhood Centre.
