The Australian Institute of Architects is pleased to announce the jury for the 2025 National Architecture Awards.
The panel consists of five accomplished individuals with varied backgrounds, each contributing a distinct viewpoint to evaluate Australia’s most esteemed architecture awards.
The jury members are Jane Cassidy FRAIA – Chair (ACT), Ninotschka Titchkosky FRAIA (NSW), Philip Oldfield Hon. FRAIA (NSW), Martyn Hook RAIA (VIC) and Yang Yang Lee RAIA (WA).
Jury Chairperson and Institute National President Jane Cassidy says, “The profession of architecture is evolving from a principals-based approach to a measurement and evidence-based approach in demonstrating the value of good design and the impact of great architecture. As Chair of the National Architecture Awards Jury, I am excited to work with my esteemed colleagues who bring expertise from practice, the academy and expansive geographies to recognize projects that exemplify architectural legacy in 2025.”
The winners will be announced at the 2025 National Architecture Awards in Canberra on Thursday, 6 November 2025 at the National Gallery of Australia.
The National Jury will be commencing their National Jury Tour in mid-July and finishing in early August.

JANE CASSIDY FRAIA (CHAIR) | Director & GHD APAC Service Line Lead Architecture & Design, GHD DESIGN
Jane Cassidy is the Asia-Pacific Service Line Leader for Architecture & Design at GHD, with over 25 years specialist experience in education, public infrastructure, healthcare, and cultural institutions. Jane is a GHD Principal and a Director of GHD Design, operating within GHD’s large multidisciplinary architecture, urban design, engineering, project management, digital and advisory business. She brings a business of architecture perspective including a deep understanding of the drivers of investment across the built environment with a focus on environmentally, culturally, economically and socially sustainable architecture.
Jane is passionate about architectural excellence across the professional continuum from higher education, through registration and beyond. As a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, she brings experience of architectural education including 10 years teaching, course accreditation and membership of the AACA standing panel.
Jane is also the National President of the Australian Institute of Architects and is an enthusiastic advocate for promoting and implementing sustainable strategies on the path to net zero and beyond. She believes that as architects, we need to transcend demonstration projects and promote quality sustainable urban and architectural environments for all in our community.

Ninotschka Titchkosky FRAIA | Architectural Innovator
Ninotschka is the recent past co-CEO of BVN, one of Australia’s largest architectural practices. She has worked across most sectors and project typologies, including complex, world-leading projects, such as the new Atlassian Headquarters, Sydney. Three decades of architectural practice are foundational to her deep understanding of the industry and the urgent need for transformation to address issues of environmental impact, cost, productivity and digitalisation. She is focused on the possibilities that advanced technologies, circularity and new business models provide in accelerating this transformation. She has led multiple research projects including co-authoring papers and being granted a US patent. Ninotschka was recognized as one of 100 visionary Australians taking effective action to respond to the most critical issue of our time, climate change by MAAS. In 2021, she served as a Commissioner for the Future of Sydney’s CBD to assist policy makers in setting the future agenda for Sydney and more recently contributed to the Future of Central Business Districts, ASEAN.

Philip Oldfield Hon. FRAIA | HEAD OF SCHOOL, UNSW BUILT ENVIRONMENT
Philip Oldfield is Head of School at UNSW Built Environment and a Professor of Architecture. His research examines how we can meet the needs of society by creating housing, buildings and infrastructure, while also reducing the environmental impact of our built environment to mitigate climate change and achieve net zero outcomes.
He is author of the books The Sustainable Tall Building: A Design Primer (2019) and Delivering on the Climate Emergency: Towards a Net Zero Built Environment (2023). He has led funded research projects with diverse inter-disciplinary teams across industry and academia, tackling issues varying from how built environment leaders use evidence in the creation of buildings, to measuring the reduction of embodied carbon possible in the Australian office sector.
Philip has taught architecture in higher education for 18 years in Australia, the UK, Singapore and the USA. He is passionate about architectural science communication, being a former British Science Association Media Fellow (2015) and writes regularly about the need for a more sustainable, equitable and resilient built environment for The New York Times, The Guardian, Dezeen, Architecture Australia and more.

Martyn Hook RAIA | Professor, RMIT & Iredale Pedersen Hook Architects
Professor Martyn Hook is Professor of Architecture and Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor Precincts at RMIT University in Melbourne. He is a former Dean of the School of Architecture and Urban Design and has a distinguished career in academia with particular expertise in the implementation of strategic vision in creative practice.
Martyn is a passionate advocate for maintaining a strong and critical relationship between architectural practice and architectural education. In addition to his work at RMIT Martyn is a Founding Director of multi award winning iredale pedersen hook architects, a studio practice based in Perth and Melbourne dedicated to appropriate design of effective sustainable buildings with a responsible environmental and social agenda.
IPH have won over 100 national and international awards including category titles at the World Architecture Festival and the Australian Institute of Architects National Award for sustainability. IPH have also represented Australia at the Venice Architecture Biennale on four separate occasions and been exhibited globally including Rotterdam, Chicago, and Tokyo.

Yang Yang Lee RAIA | Architect, Lee Yang Yang Architect
Described by his friends as a super nerd architect, Yang Yang is an emerging architect active with all ten of his fingers dipped in all areas of architecture – and was awarded AIA Emerging Architect Prize WA for 2023. Other than working full time as Project Architect at i2C Architects, he is also teaching architecture at Curtin University and has taught at University of Notre Dame.
He is also the drawings editor for the Architect magazine and Co-Chair for EmaGN WA, Emerging Architects and Graduates Network, and Correspondent for International Union of Architects Public Spaces Work Programme. He has been featured for Perth Design Week, Pecha Kucha, 3 over 4 Under forum and in the Hearing Architecture podcast.
In his spare time, he participates in numerous competitions and architectural/installation art, shortlisted twice in NGV Pavilion Architecture Commission and Dulux Study Prize, shortlisted for Melbourne Future Park Design Ideas Competition, exhibited for Sculptures by the Sea Cottesloe, Paper Mountain Gallery, Lismore Gallery, awarded Honourable Mention for the AA Unbuilt Prize 2023 and Special Mention for Resilient Timber Homes Design Competition 2023.
