KORONGEE DEMENTIA VILLAGE
Living Architecture
Episode 10: ENCOURAGING INDEPENDENCE THROUGH INCLUSIVE DESIGN
Korongee Dementia Village (KDV) is a unique care facility that provides residential care and services to people living with dementia. Adopting a small house model and tailored matching process, KDV encourages increased social engagement and enhanced wellbeing for residents.
“Jillian loves to walk and loves to walk endlessly sometimes and that simply wasn’t possible in an enclosed environment. The fact that this is a village and people can walk about in perfect safety as long as they wish in quite an area was a major consideration. Equally, it was the level of care, and the level of awareness of the condition, and the fact that every feature of the home is designed to care for the people with the condition.”
