The University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) Moreton Bay Campus Stage 2 Expansion delivers three new buildings within a larger campus masterplan proposal. Permeable edge conditions and activated building frontages blend the threshold between formal teaching spaces and informal, landscaped, social hubs. A series of habitable, landscaped plazas were placed along the main campus circulation channel to accommodate flexible social activation spaces for students and the extended community to connect, aligning with the university’s goal of a vibrant and engaging campus environment.
Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) and Glulaminated Timber (GLT) are the main structural and aesthetic components for the project due to their embedded sustainability credentials, alongside program and cost benefits. Prefabricated timber construction serves sustainable, structural and aesthetic purposes, achieving an efficient and environmentally considered construction process while serving as high-quality finishes to the façade and interior.
