Project summary

Moreton Bay is one of Australia’s fastest growing regions and is on track to become a 21st century lifestyle-focused polycentric city, connected to businesses and communities, set against the captivating backdrop of natural ecological expanses.

Working collaboratively with Moreton Bay Regional Council (MBRC), Archipelago provided a compelling vision to reclassify Moreton Bay from a ‘regional’ to a ‘city’ council under the Local Government Regulation 2012. This change will guide Moreton Bay’s transition into a highly connected, future-proofed precinct that will set the benchmark for other Australian cities and drive an agenda for an equal distribution of opportunities, wealth, and lifestyle. With a strong polycentric city vision, Moreton Bay city will be less a place that people go ‘through’ and increasingly a place that people go ‘to’ for work, learning, leisure, tourism, and entertainment.

The design helped articulate how Moreton Bay, a region of many centres, could become a modern city that was more equitable for its residents.
