Western Australia
St Catherine’s College was designed to encourage and nurture long-term collegial relationships between building occupants, whilst fostering interaction with the wider university population, faculty staff and the general public.
Drawing inspiration from native flora and fauna; elements of both the building exterior and interior were designed to celebrate the Australian banksia. External façade elements including the undulating balcony balustrades recognise the surrounding Perth landscape, whilst Interior materials and colour palettes were influenced by native flora of WA.
The college provides over 400 apartments through a variety of room typologies including self-contained and dorm rooms with integrated or shared facilities. A range of room sizes offer single or family-style groupings to maximise the “home away from home” experience. Students are provided with an interactive postgraduate and alumni experience through a variety of common areas that help to promote student interaction within a safe and secure environment.
