Coorparoo Renovation is designed to get its feet wet: lying on a flood plain, its site can remain inundated for days after heavy rain. Through a colourful renovation and extension, we’ve transformed our clients’ beloved Queenslander into a rich, functional and flood-resilient family home.
Raising the cottage to a safe distance from the ground made way for a robust storage area and absorbent landscaping underneath. Inside, the house has become a refreshed, tailored environment for a family of four: bedrooms and bathrooms are neatly contained in the original home, while the living spaces unfold in the rear extension, overlooking the back yard. These areas are defined by beautiful natural materials, clever functionality, intuitive gathering spaces, and a grounded atmosphere that defies the house’s elevated position.
The result is a home that’s resilient yet rich, protected yet connected, and uniquely equipped as the backdrop for this family’s life.
With a growing family and a house we loved, we wanted to grow our home to meet our needs and be part of our future. We both remember the first time we met our future house and how much we loved it. What we couldn’t have imagined was 6 years later living in such an incredibly light filled, beautiful and functional renovation. KIN listened and helped capture what was important to us, marrying our brief to the challenges of the site and produced a house we love, links us with our surrounds and gives us security for the future.
