There are two (2) vacancies on National Council in this 2024 election.
National Council comprises elected members of National, Chapter, EmAGN and SONA Presidents and six Nationally-Elected Councillors from the Institute’s general membership.
Nationally-Elected Councillors are elected for a three-year term, Chapter presidents are 2 years, and SONA and EmAGN Presidencies are 1 year.
National Council acts as an advisory body reporting to the Board, providing strategic direction and policy development. National Council meets at least three times a year, both in person and via electronic means.
The successful candidates of this election take office at the first National Council meeting in 2025 until the first meeting of 2028.
Chapter President roles up for election are NSW, SA, TAS, WA and the International Chapter Chair for the International Chapter.
Eligible members are invited to nominate or be nominated for the role of Chapter President of their Chapter in 2025 for a two-year term. The elected President will represent their Chapter on National Council.
As part of its recognition and appreciation for the time and effort each President dedicates to their role, the Institute’s Board has recently approved (an initiative endorsed by National Council) a Presidents’ Fund of up to $15,000 per annum. This amount is available for each officeholder in their capacity as a Chapter President, as well as for the National President, National President-Elect, Immediate Past President, EmAGN National President and SONA National President.
Further information regarding the fund can be obtained by emailing election@architecture.com.au.
Eligible nominees must be registered architects in the Chapter state or territory. Current Chapter Presidents seeking re-election must re-nominate.
There are five (5) vacant positions on each Chapter Council.
Chapter Councillors are elected for a two (2) year term where the Chapter Council’s key roles are to identify the strategic priorities for the Chapter aligned with the Institute’s Strategic Plan and respond to issues relevant to the profession and Institute members within the Chapter.
