Residential architecture: houses (Alterations and Additions)
Minimal moves were proposed by AKA architects to increase the amenity and appearance of the existing family home. While addressing the initial brief, critical analysis identified the existing house was under serviced. A modest extension, shielded from the driveway and focused towards the bush landscape, houses a drying room at the lower level. The upper level acts as a private retreat, while the open-air balcony looks over the natural swimming pool and attracts all-day sun. In the en-suite, the muted colour scheme, intricate timber detailing and expansive window provides the feel of bathing in the treetops. A new external colour scheme and the select use of timber battens unifies the house as one cohesive whole amongst the native bush setting.
Client perspective:
How does the design benefit the way you live/work/play/operate/educate/other?
“We absolutely love the new look of the house! It’s such a great transformation and interior fits the style of the exterior now. Our en-suite is incredible – with the panorama window it feels like having a bath in the bush. Overall we are feeling very happy with our home . Thanks AKA!”
