The Institute is saddened to hear of the passing of Professor Fumihiko Maki, Hon. FRAIA, on June 6.
Professor Maki received the Pritzker Prize in 1993, and was bestowed with an Honorary Fellowship of the Institute in 2000.
He practiced in his Tokyo-based office, Maki and Associates, after spending his early career in the US. Back in Japan, he pioneered the Metabolist movement with his old classmate, Kenzo Tange, among others.
The International Chapter of the Institute sends its condolences to family, friends and colleagues of Professor Maki.
