Gold Medal Tour

2018 Gold Medal Tour – Alec Tzannes AM LFRAIA

Alec Tzannes was announced as the 2018 Australian Institute of Architects Gold Medallist at the National Architecture Conference.

Alec, the Founding Director of Tzannes, is an outstanding practitioner and academic. His dedication to teaching, research and pedagogy has contributed significantly to the health of the profession in the future.

2018 National Conference

Held on the Gold Coast, 6 – 8 June, the 2018 National Architecture Conference, edge, looked at responses to issues such as climate and cultural changes both locally and overseas.  International and domestic speakers including Moshie Safdie, Borja Ferrater, Lek Bunnag and Sarah Manning along with Mark Stevenson, Lindy Atkin and Sue Dugdale, addressed the topic edge and the major priorities for regions on the edge – socially, culturally and physically.

Thanks to Creative Directors Wei Jien, Barry Lee and Brett Saville for curating such a thought provoking and entertaining program.

Venice Architecture Biennale

The Venice Biennale is the premier architectural forum in the world. Australia’s representation in Venice presents an opportunity to showcase the highest levels of thought, research and design in Australian architectural culture. Our participation in the Biennale sets the example for Australian design achievement.

We are pleased to announce the Australian Exhibition for 2018, repair by Baracco+Wright Architects, in collaboration with artist Linda Tegg. repair will present thousands of temperate grassland species, cultivated and nurtured within the Australian Pavilion alongside large-scale architectural projections, representing a physical dialogue between architecture and endangered plant community reminding us what is at stake when we occupy land.
